 Concoction of a Review:

Mad Scientist listens to audio more often then the blog relates. Watching very little of the animated television one spends their time creating with yarn while amidst a great audio book.

However, one cannot be sure what will be had when you enter into middle grade world. Truly, children can say the oddest of things at the most inopportune times. With that being so there were chuckles and laughs to be had while listening to Zoe & Zak go about their adventure.

Although, we did not see too much of India MS did delight in the thought of traveling through, as it is on the long list of a seriously Mad Bucket List! Should one mention the late night escape via magic carpet. *shakes head* No, perhaps you should find out about it through a different source. *wink*

Zoe & Zak are attending a private school in the mountains, Moonstock Himalayan Academy for Boys & Girls to be exact.  Where the food is most ghastly and the education consists of finding edible foods and copious amounts of toilet paper. And the true test of skill and wits is to not end up with food poisoning.

Adventures are what young minds crave and this duo found it, even unknowingly. Zak is opptimistic even in the face of danger. Zoe seemed more on edge but they work well in smelling out clues. Plus, as the cover art indicates.... Flying Elephants. Yes, one must love flying elephants!

Sonja is a wonderful narrator. MS tends to stay away from females voices because they tend to grate on the eardrum a tad too much. Yet, Sonja's presentation of both Zoe & Zak as well as the rest of the cast was very enjoyable. Each character was distinct so MS never felt the internal need as to guess which character it was supposed to be.

MS immensely enjoyed the thrill of the novel as they made friends, really understood what inedible was, and sneaking off the campus to a temple.

You may still be wondering if you should either read/listen to this book or pass it. MS has to major reasons as to why you should.

  1. Flying Elephants
  2. Adventure
One cannot go wrong with either!
