 Concoction of a Review:

Mad Scientist listens to audio more often then the blog relates. Watching very little of the animated television one spends their time creating with yarn while amidst a great audio book.

However, one cannot be sure what will be had when you enter into middle grade world. Truly, children can say the oddest of things at the most inopportune times. With that being so there were chuckles and laughs to be had while listening to Zoe & Zak go about their adventure.

Although, we did not see too much of India MS did delight in the thought of traveling through, as it is on the long list of a seriously Mad Bucket List! Should one mention the late night escape via magic carpet. *shakes head* No, perhaps you should find out about it through a different source. *wink*

Zoe & Zak are attending a private school in the mountains, Moonstock Himalayan Academy for Boys & Girls to be exact.  Where the food is most ghastly and the education consists of finding edible foods and copious amounts of toilet paper. And the true test of skill and wits is to not end up with food poisoning.

Adventures are what young minds crave and this duo found it, even unknowingly. Zak is opptimistic even in the face of danger. Zoe seemed more on edge but they work well in smelling out clues. Plus, as the cover art indicates.... Flying Elephants. Yes, one must love flying elephants!

Sonja is a wonderful narrator. MS tends to stay away from females voices because they tend to grate on the eardrum a tad too much. Yet, Sonja's presentation of both Zoe & Zak as well as the rest of the cast was very enjoyable. Each character was distinct so MS never felt the internal need as to guess which character it was supposed to be.

MS immensely enjoyed the thrill of the novel as they made friends, really understood what inedible was, and sneaking off the campus to a temple.

You may still be wondering if you should either read/listen to this book or pass it. MS has to major reasons as to why you should.

  1. Flying Elephants
  2. Adventure
One cannot go wrong with either!

 Concoction of a Review:

Taking on this Speculative fiction was not a choice but a must. Truly, Mad Scientist does not read enough of this genre.

Too start MS will say that this is indeed not a literary masterpiece but oh so close. New favorite is now found!

Enjoying this book is saying as if MS liked it.  This is not the case.

  • When the pages were not being flipped thoughts were whirling about the characters.
  • When the pages were not being flipped dreams of the characters adventures and what will happen next filled my head.

Thinking of a book in this way, when the characters do not leave you, is a more than enjoying the book!

Taking place in the distant future of 2069, Butterman (Time) Travel, Inc. is an independent travel agency not run by the government but still under over bearing government inspection. Could you image a Time Travel agency???

Our main lady of the novel, Bianca, works for her family at Butterman's and it is her life. She does a great job of making sure her job is done to the dot. She takes pride in it and would have to think this young lady was a tad on the OCD side of things. Still not having her time travel licence she dreams of what is called her induction day. It is a day they can go out of the governments rules of 100 years to any event.

Which event would MS pick? That is such a hard question. Honestly, MS would want to break the rules and fix some past mistake and throw off time. My oh my, MS is not to ever own a time machine!!! The world counts on that *snickers*.

Enter in pretty boy tween pop star singer of the future, Tristan, who fell into the spiral of drugs and rehab. Oh, future stars don't you learn a thing. *shame head shake* He is a ball of fun and tries to veer stick in the mud Bianca from the rules on his time travel trip to places one must not speak of.  (You will not regret reading this book to find out where! Shocked you will be!)
Austin Butler
Here is how MS pictures Tristan:
MS fears of indulging too much information in this review. For surly this book is recommended but more would give away the places visited and with the why's.

Although, letting it slip on the sly, the government is the bad guy... oh, who would of thought. *not shocked grin*

Overall, MAD LOVED this book!!

This book had my mind wrapped in inky goodness while reading and when MS had to be away. For me that was just an amazing feeling.

MS could go on and do what those fangirls do with their squeeing delight. Luckily there will be none of that. MS does believe ample praise has been given.

Buy this book...

and tell me your thoughts...

"You dark betties and bobbies got your own thing going on - defined by being different. I get it. It's cool."
I watch the digital elevator dial move to teh sixteeth floor. Not about to tackle his comment about dark betties. Guys like Tristan will never understand the use of fashion to suggest artistic depth.
"Guess we're just different, right?" I say. "I'm not here to judge. And it doesn't matter to me if people like me or not."

Have you given a thought to what would be of your lovely life now if you have done something different. Anything?

Would you be the same person you are now?

What about if you could go somewhere and change something, meet someone, visit an event that was to go down in the history books that you may have missed.

Could you come up with 5 time destinations you would like to visit.

Mad Scientist has a hankering for travel more often than not but MS finds it a bit discerning to try and narrow down my travel desires to 5. If MS created a time a machine... Ah, what fun an adventures would be had.

Since MS is blustering over 5 we will have to see where our lovely author, PK Hrezo, would indulge.

Top 5 Time Trip Destinations:

There are a ton of great choices, and although I’d love to say I’ve got a list of profoundly philosophical quests up my sleeve, the truth is, I’d probably see some good shows first. Being the music lover that I am, here are my first choices:
#5
The epic music festival in my book: the original Woodstock. I mean, wow. Just to feel that vibe for a few hours would be outstanding. And hear all those iconic performers? Yeah. Totally.
#4
London in the late 1960s for a Led Zeppelin show. Gettin’ the lead out with these musical geniuses would be unbeatable. Put me in some bell bottoms and platforms to top it off and I’m in heaven.
#3
1967/68 on the Sunset Strip of LA for a Doors show. Their organ player, Ray Manzarek, died this year. RIP. To see the band in their prime, with Jim Morrison alive and unpredictably clever—major head rush.
#2
New York in the 1940s for a Frank Sinatra show with my honey. Nothing says romance like this old school crooner, plus dressing the part in full retro-40s style would be divine. Men suits and fedoras, women in modest but feminine dresses and heels? *swoon*
#1
Back to my roots, to relive the music that kicked off my new adult years: Seattle in the early 90s for the grunge/alternative movement. Oh the memories! I’d lace up my Docs, pull out my flannel, and jam to some Alice in Chains, Pearl Jam, and Nirvana, among others that emerged around that time. I lived in Florida, so to actually be there at the center of it all, singing along to the tunes I listened to so religiously back in the day? Dreamy.
