In The Moment {8}

Today I finished up Blaze (or Love in the Time of Supervillains)  a Coming of Age Young Adult.

Now I have moved onto a adult novel.  Beautiful Bastard by Christina Lauren.  Let us say... Very Adult! I am loving it even at onky 9%.

Mini Post {3}

There are so many different short stories, novellas, and quickies that I felt a need, or a desire if you will, to feature some of the ones that I pick up and devour in between loads of laundry, waiting for the boys to come home, & during those nights where I wake up for no good reason for an hour.  A few minutes to spare in surprising situations.
(I'd just like to just share that they will not always be adult Mini's.)

A Short Concoction of a Review

The Mad Scientist needs to express that I did really enjoy this retelling of Beauty and the Beast.  However, I do feel the need to point out that just because there were a few words dropped of the Steampunkery sort does not mean it is Steampunk.  There is much potential and I am looking forward to seeing the author expand on the Underlight World!  Machinery, underground living & magic!
Now that I put the heavy before the tea let us move to the good parts of How Beauty Met The Beast.

Jax Garren does a wonderful job at creating a BEASTMany characters in the beast role have very little contributing the the beast aspect.  Not in this case.  Ex army ranger Hauk is badly scared from a fire over 80% of his body.  It does not take a Mad Scientist to know that this man is also very emotionally injured.  He is now agent for the Underlight who are working against the Order of Ananke.

Save a Tree – Read an e-book Button
e-Book Love!

Jolie wants to add a bit of fantasy to her life as a heiress .  She tries her hand at Burlesque dancing.  After her first show she is beside herself, in a good flustered way.  Behind a curtain she changes.  Her sight is blocked from the curtain but her sensitive nerves are firing at some serious fantasy plays out.

Jolie lives in the highlife of a big modern city.  Meanwhile, Hauk is living under this city with many others who are opposed to the oppressiveness up top.

Crossing paths in a series means that the tension can build up over a course of time instead of insta love.  It will be that much more worth it!  *waggles eyebrows* More Hauk and Jolie is coming soon!

In The Moment {7}

The Mad Scientist is nearly to the end of The Coincidence of Callie and Kayden by Jessica Sorensen.   I finished The Fallen Star by her and I was not that impressed.   However, a fellow book blogger and texting buddy told me that this one was a MUST READ!  At this moment the Mad Scientist is very glad she listened to her! Thanks Z!!

Mad now highly recommends this book!

eBook Review --> The Gravedigger's Brawl

The Gravedigger's Brawl

Concoction of a Review:

Let us just start off right away with me admitting that the Mad Scientist just LOVED  The Gravedigger's Brawl.  Yes, the Spooky and Sexy was just that good.  A short 250 pages but Abigail Roux had me wrapped around her little finger as the plot and characters were just so well developed!

The Virginia Historical Society's head curator, Wyatt Case, is about to loose his job if he does not step up his game and come up with a brilliant mastermind exhibit to bring more people in during a renovation.  He is very practical man... that is until he lays eyes on Ash, a exuberant flair bartender, at the local Steampunkery bar Gravedigger's.  The Mad Scientist even thought Ash was quit lickable.  A Victorian fashion sense, kohl lined eyes, and a tongue ring.  *waggles eyebrows*

I loved reading about the tentativeness yet immediate attraction between Ash and Wyatt.  Wyatt makes a lark out of himself when he ducks out of Ash's apartment after first nights treats.  He quickly regrets his decision.  Racked with guilt he attempts to make amends.

Here is how I picture Ash:
"Why is it always the wackadoos who're good in bed?" he said sadly. (24%)

Ash smiled.  Why Wyatt seemed so fond of the tongue rings, he couldn't guess...  other than the obvious reasons, of course.  But Wyatt didn't really seem turned on by them  so much as charmed.  Mostly.  mention of the vibrating one had certainly stopped him in his tracks.  (46%)

Every year Gravedigger's Tavern throws a huge costume party known as the Gravedigger's Brawl.  The party is inside and out of the Gravedigger's.  They are busy preparing for this occasion when appliances and radios start going bump bump in ways that make even grown men jitter.

Now, you maybe thinking what about the Spooky part is I dutifully mentioned to you.  Indeed the Mad Scientist has not forgotten!  Occurrences of the strange and the odd were happening around the workers of Gravedigger's Tavern yet they were brushing it off with explainable thoughts.  After all, Gravedigger's Tavern was once a old Victorian house which housed secrets of its own.

The Mad Scientist thoroughly enjoyed The Gravedigger's Brawl!

I think you will too!
