The Mad Scientist gives you the final cover of Soul Screamers, #5... If I Die!
By Rachel Vincent

This cover is just so striking!  I think the covers of the series gets better and better.  I like that we are unable to see his whole face.  I sort of wish her face was half hidden as well.  But the dress is to die for!  Sorry, lame pun intended.  Honestly, it is more then beautiful!

I have not started this series but Rachel Vincent's adult series is amazing!  I highly recommend her for her writing ability!

Summary (from Goodreads):
No one wants to be this teacher’s pet . . .

Everyone else is talking about Eastlake High’s gorgeous new math teacher, Mr. Beck, but Kaylee Cavanaugh has bigger things on her mind. Kaylee’s a banshee—her scream is a portent of death.

But the next scream might hit too close to home. Kaylee’s borrowed lifeline has almost run out.

Yeah—it’s a shock to her, too. So to distract herself from her own problems, Kaylee is determined to defend her school against the latest supernatural threat. That hot new teacher is really an incubus, who feeds from the desire of unsuspecting students. The only girls immune to his lure are Kaylee and Sabine, her boyfriend’s delinquent ex-girlfriend. Now the unlikely allies have to get rid of Mr. Beck…before he discovers they aren’t quite human either.

But Kaylee’s running out of time, and those who love her will do anything to save her life.

Anything.

Book Review... Before I Fall by Lauren Oliver

Before I Fall
By: Lauren Oliver
Published By:  HarperCollins
Published Date: March 2010
Pages:  Hardcover 472
Tags: Young Adult, Contemporary Fiction, Speculative

First Line:  They say that just before you die your whole life flashes before your eyes, but that's not how it happened for me.

Why the Mad Scientist read this book:   I bought Before I Fall at a great discounted price when my local Borders was going out of business.  It was a sad day but I picked up over 40 books.  Yikes!  Plus, I read and enjoyed Delirium.

Concoction of a review:
Lauren Oliver wrote this book in such away that it makes you think about your life and how you should cherish life.  You may just never know when the plague will come through and take you away.

Samantha Kingston is an high school girl who has everything she could want, besides a parasol.  She is popular, has friends, a boyfriend whom she liked for years.  On cupid day, February 12th, everything changes for her.

She wakes up and finds herself repeating the day.  Odd is what the Mad Scientist was thinking, intriguing even.  Sam was thinking Deja Vu.  However, throughout the book she slowly learns that the repeat of the day is not just fate playing a twisted game with her.  After some time, the purpose of it all becomes more clear to her.

In the beginning Sam Kingston was not a very likable character and the Mad Scientist did not connect with her.  This would draw many people away just for that.  Except in this case, as Sam goes through the repeat of the day we get to watch her change and grow into a person we all enjoy seeing at that beginning of our books.  Throughout these repeat days she learns how a girl was tortured by her & a friend, kisses a teacher, ditches school, spends time with a sibling, watches a friend die, dumps her boyfriend and many other things.

The story was bold, the emotion was powerful, & above all the character's development was impressive.  Oliver creates a teenager that attaches to you because you do watch her grow so wonderfully while adding in a shocking end.  More traumatic and startling then the beginning.  Emotions are piled up at the end and you cannot help but shed a tear or too into your handkerchief.

Dislikes?  The Mad Scientist was completely caught off guard on this one.  Here is a time that I wish I would of known a bit more about the book.  I think I would of read this book at a different time that better fit my mood.  I also think that I was getting a bit tired of reading about the same day throughout the whole book.  Yes, there were changes, yes she changed, yes it was an emotional ride... Just a day or two less would of been perfect.
Overall, Before I Fall  did not have me falling in love.

3.1 Blasts
I enjoyed the bold contemporary story of a young girl and how she grows throughout several repeats of the day she died ending in a bought of emotion.

This week I am going with a theme.

Small Romance Paperbacks TBR:

Cry Wolf (Alpha & Omega #1) by Patricia Briggs This is a beautiful cover.  I was craving a wolfish read when I picked this one up.  Alas, there it sits on my shelf yet.  Pity poor me.

Hunting Ground (Alpha & Omega #2) by Patricia Briggs I received this book in the mail via the most amazing GoodReads swap, thanks to Jessica at The Spinecracker!  Now I have the second book in the series.  I'm set to try this one out now.  The third is tentative for January 2012.

Immortal Outlaw (Immortal Brotherhood #2) by Lisa Hendrix  I have had this one on the shelf for a long time.  The cover probably struck me.  I'm unsure because I have no idea when I bought this or where from.  But the cover is still yummy!  Now that I know it is book two I might just have to look for book one before I try it out.

Truly, Madly (Lucy Valentine #1) by Heather Webber  Today I feel like I've been stuck in a time portal for too long.  I'm sorry to say that I have no idea how long this one has been with me.  However, Look at that cover!  What is going on with the door and all of the vines on the side?  I want to know!

Primal Needs (Primes #7) by Susan Sizemore Grr... this portal is getting intense.  Where did these books come from and why do I have book 7 in a series?  Oh me oh my, I'm happy to have this one now.  I just looked it up on GoodReads and the series looks rather interesting.

This is exactly why I wanted to start this MeMe.

I don't even know what is on my own shelf!!

Well, my lovelies!
There are 5 books that can be found in my library!

Pandora shook her right wrist out from under the piles of bangles.  At the very bottom, clipped tightly to her skin, was a cuff.  Pandora opened the oval face to reveal that the cuff was actually a wrist-locket, something Helen had never seen before.  --- Page 241

Previously, I came up with Knicker Tuesday.  Although, I think knickers are just as mysterious as anything I stumble upon in my beakers I wanted to offer up more Steampunkery here.  Don't get me wrong.  I'm sure you fancy a sneak at some undergarments.  I admit, there will probably be a Knicker Teaser still from time to time!

Here is one of my Favorite pieces of Steampunkery Art!
I just adore it.  Skulls, wings, and gears!

Blog Hopping is Must!!!

Blog Hop Friday is hosted by Crazy-for-books, Thank you For that!   This week's question comes from Christina who blogs at The Paperback Princesses. She asks:

"If you find a book you love, do you hunt down other books by the same author?"

The Mad Scientist
I would have to say that sometimes this is a yes and sometimes this is a no.  Here are a few authors that get a great big YES!

I admit The Mad Scientist is in love with one historical writer, Margaret George, so much that after reading one of her books I rand out and bought another one.  Today I own her whole library including Elizabeth I that has recently come out.  Also, I am very lucky to say that I made it a point to meet her and get every single book of hers signed!  Oh yes, that is some author LOVE!   <3

Kimberly Derting, author of The Body Finder series, is another author that I would go out and buy every book.  I'm very pleased to say that she has another coming out in November, The Pledge!  I'm beyound thrilled and can hardly wait for it!  I also admit that I drove over 5 hours to meet dear Kimberly as well!  Love my signed Body Finder books!  Thanks hun!

Follow Friday is a weekly meme hosted by Parajunkee, also a big thank you for that!
Caitlin @ The Cait Files asks:

What is on your current playlist right now?

The Mad Scientist
On my Playlist I'm currently listening to some Korean Pop!  I know!  Not very Steampunkish but it is not always wise to stay constricted in one genre.  It opens your mind to a genre in the beginning but closes it once you are consumsed.  Reach for something different every once in a while.  Keep the box open.  Much better is don't even get in the box!

Plus I love to through everyone for a loop everyonce in a while.

Happy Easter to Everyone!
Enjoy Family, Friends, & Good Books Always!

What does the Mad Scientist do to love the Earth?

I do a lot of things to keep my small family on the sustainable side.

However, for my reading hobby - Way Of Life I try to read eBooks.
Not only do I get to carry a library with me at all times but I have the love in my heart knowing that I helped save a tree.  The feeling that I am helping the future generations.

This week I am going with a theme.

Steampunkery Books TBR:

Steamed by Katie MacAlister has been sitting on my shelf since... Forever.  I have read one of her other books and loved it.  I don't know why I have been holding out on this one.

The Horns of Ruin by Tim Akers is one of the books that arrived in the mail unexpectedly to make this Mad Science fill with steam joy!  Thanks to PYR!!  They make my happy on so many days that I just adore mail now!  Well, almost!  I expect this book to be full of steampunkery delight.  Now for the hard part, to get to it!
Reading it will be the fun part ;)

Native Star by M.K. Hobson this Steampunkery book was recommended to me by the one and only Candace from Candace's Book Blog.  I'm not sure if you have stopped by lately but her blog has been redone and looks amazing.  Behind all of the wonders she posts some well written to the point reviews.  I must say I do not think she has steered me wrong yet.

I may have timed this right.  If I get this one read the second one comes out in a few days, The Hidden Goddess.

The Iron Duke by Meljean Brook Now this is a book I was seeing all over the blog-o-sphere.  I was rather jealous that so many people were reading it but not the Mad Scientist.  I had to grease my gears and sulk in the corner of the laboratory for a bit.  One day... book buying I seen it.  There on the shelf.  So, I had to get it and sadly, now it sits on my shelf.  Waiting.  :(   Some day my love.  *pets cover*

Avalon Revisited by O.M. Grey I know it is not odd for me to not know anything about a book but for this one I know nothing.  I seen it around a bit.  The Lady and the bright dress are just unforgettable.  I happened to cross this beauty on the GoodReads swap and I can't wait to read it.

Well, my lovelies!
There are 5 books that can be found in my library!
