In The Moment {2}

So early this day of doom I have been unable to slumber without fit.  As to why I am very unsure myself since I was up past a very late hour.

However,  I decided to chase away my squirming with a bit of book.  Armed with my futuristic gadget, of which I'm in love with, I hope my sheets will not be bunched by my feet no longer.  How terrible to be knotted in ones bedsheets on the day of doom.  Which I see has not come at present.

Perhaps... for another's flimsy prediction the doom will appear.

The Mad Scientist will presently be found within the electronic pages of Gravedigger's Brawl by Abigail Roux.  As it is, I am unsure of what is to be found in this but I assure you I'm excited to find out.

Begging said book to pull me out of my reading slump.  It's rather intolerable.

Reading from NetGalley through the Kindle app on the Samsung Note II.

.....

If at any point you would like to share your current read I would love to hear about.  I'm always in the mood for something new or a bit odd due to uncanny curiosity, that has never once killed my poor cat.

In The Moment {5}

The Mad Scientist started In The Moment so that I may share my bookish life on the go... plus I'm conputerless at the current moment.

Please do join in and share a link if you would like to do the same.

........

I have finished Gravedigger's Brawl and it was amazing!  If you are a ghost story lover then Gravedigger's Brawl is for you.  Review to come.

My next inky read is Eleanor & Park by Rainbow Rowell.  Rainbow, I'm curious as to how life has faired with that name.

So far it is different, albeit, as always the Mad Scientist is almost always clueless about what the book is about.  I can only assume music due to the sharing of headphones on the cover.

Mad Scientist is reading this one via the Samsung Note II by way of Kindle Thanks to NetGalley!

In The Moment {4}

I am sadly without computer but I still want to share.  Join me on my mobile bookish journey through In the Moment.  In time posts as I read, find quotes, get mail and other what nots that the Mad Scientist deems worthy.

At this moment I am inclined to share a current quote.  The Mad Scientist is most enjoying my Current Kindle read from NetGalley, The Gravedigger's Brawl.

In The Moment {3}

Mobile sharing on the go with one utterly Mad Scientist!

I did not intend to have another post so quickly.  Yet, a surprise arrival has me jumping to share what just made my cold Wisconsin night a bit more bearable from the inner warmth of joy.

Oh yes, joy can warm you right up.  But petting a beautiful new bookcover can do wonders for the soul.

Deepest thanks to PYR for loving me so.

...

Do jump in and share your bookish moment with me.

Concoction of a Small Review:

Does one pick up a book to be surprised?  Does one pick up a book to enter the world from another's point of view?  Does one pick up a book for a epic journey?

This book will keep you your toes.  What was I expecting?  Nothing of what I read!

The writing was unique.  The beginning was a bit of foreshadowing... until what can be said, the point in Rebecca's life where she might of been slapped by life.  Many of us hit those rock bottom points and figure out that we are not living in the right way.  Prior to this she was living the alcoholics dream, not a situation any person should be in, especially for a boy.

One good thing about contemporaries... I hope someone today can pull from them and apply lessons to their own lives.

Yet, throughout the book I found it hard to really be overly mad at Christian for pressuring her so much.  The author didn't build this boy to be unlikable   Which is probably a problem for some girls today.

One can say that this is really not a fluffy book.  It takes you on one long emotional train through Rebecca's situations.  You feel for her and at one point I'm sure I yelled out loud at her.  Ok, several times.  The characters hook you in and the writing style keeps you there and the hard taboo issues makes you want to be there for them.

What I great book!  I highly recommend this one!

Book Review ---> Wake (Watersong #1)

Wake (Watersong, #1)

By: Amanda Hocking
Published  By:  St. Martin's Press
Publish Date:  Aug. 7th 2012
Pages: 309 Hardcover
Series:   Watersong #1
Tags:  Young Adult, Fantasy Fiction, Mythology, Paranormal Romance
Source:  Library

Concoction of a Review:

Confessions of an Angry Girl The Mad Scientist thought she should give Amanda Hocking a gander since I've heard so much about her other series, which I have not read yet.  Added to the good chatter is the promise of Mermaids!  Sounds wonderful to me.

I fancy the idea of Sirens.  In the beginning it was enough that my curiosity was allowing the story to grab me, making me want to know more.  Albeit, it did not take very long for my head to start shaking back n forth.  The narration was just... What to say to explain?  Bizarre.

Gemma was enthralled by the water, aiming of the Olympics (which impressed the britches off of me) before the Sirens of the story drew her away with their own enthralling magic.  There is something wrong with the three beautiful girls, that used to be four, the whole town even feels the odd around them.  Gemma fought as hard as she could but who could say no to the mythological creatures of the sea.  No one in the past could.  Her practical overprotective older sister, Harper, also fought in her own way... without knowing it.  Oh, that just makes you wonder, now doesn't it not?!

If you know anything about myths, I bet you are waiting to hear about the bad stuff that goes along with every immortals story.  Sure enough, these Sirens bring darkness to the small city in Maryland.  It is grim.  But I can't tell you more.  *wink wink*

Throughout the book, the Mad Scientist did find herself saying, "could we just move along, please!"  There were several areas where I felt a particular part was just drawn out a few more pages then necessary.

One more thing...  the foreseen future in knowing this book has three more after it sort of killed the drama of the almost death of Gemma.  There was just no way she was going to die in the middle of the first book & I was bothered by it being made a option.  Anyone else?

Mythology is something I have always enjoyed.  However, the Mad Scientist did NOT feel the pull of the Siren's song from this book.  I am pleased to say that I just picked this one up from the library instead of scrounging around for enough change for the purchase.

The Mad Scientist will not be running out for the next in the series!

Overall, it was a quaint story of family and friendship with a side note of small romance & creepiness.  It just was not my cup of tea.  Hot, cold, green or black.

Mini Monday {No. 2}

{eARC Book Review}  --->  Yesterday's Heroes

There are so many different short stories, novellas, and quickies that I felt a need, or a desire if you will, to feature some of the ones that I pick up and devour in between loads of laundry, waiting for the boys to come home, & during those nights where I wake up for no good reason for an hour.  You name it there is a few minutes to spare in surprising situations.
(I'd just like to just share that they will not always be adult Mini's.)

Concoction of a Review

The Mad Scientist feels that I should point out there that Yesterday's Heroes is a bit on the shorter side.

Of course, once again I had no clue what I was jumping into with this one.  The superhero cover makes me think YA.  Oh, boy I was wrong!  Surprise, this ebook was Adult!  Picture spandex costumes, action, and powers!  This book was a bit exciting!  Even better then even what I could

For Michael Hunter was apart of a 5 person team, Boomers, who are from the future of year 2115.  There mission became their life... They were sent to stop certain key events from happening to  impede the darkness of the future from happening.

Halo, is the hero they are targeting at the moment, believing that she is vital to stopping the next event from happening.  Michael is all stalker sniper on top of the building across the way from Halo's favorite coffee shop has some inner monologue war over his desire for Halo and the mission needing her dead.

~If Yesterday's Heroes is the beginning of a new series the Mad Scientist is eagerly awaiting the next.

~If Yesterday's Heroes is a stand alone... Then I must say that I was engaged all the way to the end.  However, with it being so short the end was very abrupt.  So many questions have left my Mad brain even Madder.  I do wish for more!

Beyond Shame (Beyond, #1)
By: Kit Rocha

Publish Date:  Sept 16th 2012

Concoction of a Review:

Holy Hot!  Hard Core Kinky!  Obscene!  Dark! & I loved every minute of it!

The Mad Scientist's down and dirty Review of Beyond Shame.  If you have been deeply disappointed or find the romance lacking in books of late. Beyond Shame is sexy in all the sinful ways that will have most blush throughout the whole book.  This book had all of my lustful past and fantasy romps thrown down on page!  However, I do recommend this one with a warning!

Warning Number One:
If you are uncomfortable with anything other then the normal m/f... the tromp through this book has even more.  f/f, m/f/m/f, m/f/m, and plenty of just full on sex parties.

Warning Number Two:
BDSM material... Bondage, kinky pearl strands, pain, Dominance & submission.

Save a Tree – Read an e-book Button

The dirty book is also a dystopian.  *Gasps*  Yes, in the world of raunchy sex after solar flares cast the world as we knew it into darkness there are sectors who are trying to survive.  Noelle, is from Eden, the world of the elite privileged prim & proper, which she is not.  Nothing but the clothes on her back.  Selling her earrings to a street vendor ended up with her drugged up and falling onto gang member, Jasper McCray of sector four.

This is where the fun starts...  Jasper is the number two of Dallas, leader of the O'Kane gang.  Hard abs, cage fighter, and melting heart for Noelle.  Protective and possessive, yet, weary of marking her & making Noelle HIS.

I'm Marked by AceMeanwhile, dear Noelle is trying to learn the way of the O'Kane's from sassy dominant Lex.  I so loved Lex!!  She was one of my favorite characters along with Ace.  Mad Scientist would be marked by the hot tattooist with a wicked tongue.  No worries though, every character is just so wonderful!  Can I take one of each of the O'Kane men on a silver platter.  No bows needed!  *grin*

Noelle is learning how to feel.  This new O'Kane world of debauchery (sex & drinking & violence).  Will she have to decide if she wants to go back to being hallow or give into her new desires.
