Do you dislike what Halloween has become? Like me?
All Hallows Eve has roots from the Samhain Celtic Festival and All Saint's Day.
However, now it is all about Candy!
Especially for my boys.
How did we let this happen??
I plan on starting a new tradition, of course, these boots are following in the wonderful foot steps of a grand creative writer.
Neil Gaiman is a brilliant writer of simple prose
yet he has come up with a pleasant way of making this day about more then
a sugar rush.
A scary literary rush is WAY better!!!
A scary literary rush is WAY better!!!
What do you think of Neil Gaiman's idea?
I felt the gears and cogs roll around a bit under my flowery bonnet.
I would give Morpheus Road: The Light by D.J. MacHale. One of my all time favorite scary reads this year.
ReplyDeleteI have heard that Scott Westerfield's new series is very good. And I agree, I'd love to see Halloween go back to it's ancient roots.
ReplyDeleteAs to your comment on the Steampunk challenge, I would look to you only as a reference as I am new to this world of Steampunkery. I know goggles are involved and those being given away are beautiful. Wear does one wear their Steampunk goggles?
A classic: Dracula.
ReplyDeleteAww, thanks, dearier. :P
ReplyDeleteWell, scary isn't really my thing but I would go with the classic "Red-Death Mask" by Edgar Allan Poe, it's actually a short story (comes in Extraordinary Narrations) but it's SO creepy. A few stories there are.
ReplyDeleteYou gotta admit Poe could describe the creepy-crap out of anything!
Or maybe give a taste of a original vampiredom with Polidori's The Vampyre.
