Waiting on Wednesay ....WoW!

Alright ladies and gents, today is Wednesday.  And MS has informed me that it is my turn to do a post.  She has also suggested in her MS way, which involved nagging off my ear, that I should participate in the Waiting on Wednesday meme hosted by Breaking the Spine.  So, to appease her and get her to stop her incessant talking, I've created this most excellent post.

My pick for today's WoW is:

The Water Wars by Cameron Stracher

Welcome to a future where water is more precious than gold or oil-and worth killing for
Vera and her brother Will live in the shadow of the Great Panic, in a country that has collapsed from environmental catastrophe. Water is hoarded by governments, rivers are dammed, and clouds are sucked from the sky. But then Vera befriends Kai, who seems to have limitless access to fresh water. When Kai suddenly disappears, Vera and Will set off on a dangerous journey in search of him-pursued by pirates, a paramilitary group, and greedy corporations. Timely and eerily familiar, acclaimed author Cameron Stracher makes a stunning YA debut that's impossible to forget.(from Goodreads.com)

I enjoy so many different genres, for their ability to make the world as entirely colorful as it is.  That part of colorful includes Adult and YA.  And although I haven't quite added up the score to see which has the greater markings (as I don't actually do well at charting), let's just say I enjoy whichever holds my attention.  So, this book of a world that has fallen into chaos seems promising to do just that.  Because really, where can one go wrong when chaos is involved?

And with that, I leave you with some words by Jules Verne:

"We are of the opinion that instead of letting books grow mouldy behind an iron grating, far from the vulgar gaze, it is better to let them wear out by being read."(From A Journey to the Center of the Earth)

  7. Ok, while I refuse to even consider the possibility that the Mad Scientist would ever do anything as mundane as "nagging" I will say that this book looks really interesting. I haven't heard about this one before, I also haven't read a dystopian fantasy recently so thanks for putting this one on my radar!!
And thanks so much for the Blog Love in the sidebar!

  8. *whisper to the Happy Booker* We know our lovely Noah wanted to try his hand at a post so I suggested WoW. Something I have not done in the past that he could make his own. *tsk* Men!

Noah my assistant. I do think you did a wonderful job on the post. Although, the nagging notion on my part is less then ideal.

Nonetheless, I agree. Water Wars is going to be one of those books that everyone will flock too. Soon we will be falling into a dystopian world. Mad Scientist simply cannot wait.
